Where Meridiane Began
Meridiane was established in Petaling Jaya with a straightforward purpose: to give Malaysian families a place where inheritance matters could be handled with the same seriousness and care that those matters deserve. The founders observed that many individuals facing estate, waqf, or succession questions struggled to find practitioners who combined technical competence with a genuinely measured approach — one that acknowledged the personal weight of these situations.
The practice draws on deep familiarity with Malaysian inheritance law in both its civil and Islamic dimensions. Over time, Meridiane has worked with families across Selangor and beyond — on matters ranging from waqf establishment coordinated with State Islamic Religious Councils, to complex business succession frameworks negotiated across multiple generations and stakeholders, to contested estate proceedings requiring sustained court engagement.
What has remained consistent across that work is an approach that values clarity over volume. We take on cases where we can be genuinely useful, and we communicate transparently about the scope, the timeline, and what clients should realistically expect. Our clients tend to value this directness — and to find that it makes a difficult process more manageable.
Our Mission
To provide structured, respectful legal guidance on inheritance matters — helping families and businesses in Malaysia move through complex transitions with as much certainty and as little conflict as possible.
Our Values
- Patience. Inheritance matters rarely benefit from being rushed. We follow the process at the pace it needs.
- Precision. Legal documents that govern family assets must be correct in every respect. We do not cut corners.
- Transparency. Clients receive honest assessments of their situation, including where outcomes are uncertain.
- Sensitivity. We recognise that behind every estate matter is a family — and we handle it accordingly.

Inheritance Law Practice in Petaling Jaya
Malaysian inheritance law spans both civil and Syariah frameworks, and the intersection between them creates complexity that requires specialist knowledge. Meridiane focuses specifically on this space — working with clients across Selangor and the Klang Valley on waqf establishment, business ownership transitions, and estate-related court proceedings.
The waqf framework in Malaysia operates under the administration of each state's Islamic Religious Council. Properly constituted waqf — whether cash waqf, property waqf, or corporate waqf — requires documentation that satisfies both the religious and administrative requirements of the relevant SIRC. Meridiane navigates this process on behalf of clients, coordinating with JAIS and other bodies as needed.
Business succession planning within Malaysian family enterprises involves more than a simple transfer of shares. Leadership readiness, family governance, and the alignment of business succession with individual estate plans each require considered legal structuring. Meridiane approaches these engagements as sustained advisory relationships rather than transactional tasks.
Estate litigation in Malaysia may proceed through the High Court, Syariah courts, or other tribunals depending on the nature of the dispute and the religious status of the deceased. Meridiane supports clients through all stages of such proceedings, from initial assessment through to resolution — whether by settlement or by hearing.
